MONSTERS

Classic horror films from the 20's to the 60's including Dr. Caligari, Carnival of Souls, Atom Age Vampire and Daughter of Horror are sped up 500X and mixed with live drawing.

The video Monsters began from a series of drawings entitled, Fear. Captured stills from classic cult horror films were drawn with pencil on black paper so that the faces seemed to appear as shadows peering from darkness. 25 portaits represent each film, such as The Lady Vanishes and Daughter of Horror. Shown here are only a few examples from the hundreds of portraits which were drawn in February/March 2009.

Another ongoing series, Invisibles are film stills drawn with white pencil on white paper. However, these are very difficult to reproduce digitally.
