an FEGS program at
Edward Reynolds West Side High School, NYC

From 2003-2006 I developed a youth media arts program under FEGS at alternative High Schools in New York City and the South Bronx. To encourage self-esteem, socialization, community activism and pride, I taught video making to teens who chose to make Public Service Announcements on parental involvement, drug prevention, promoting eduction, environmental awareness and political awareness.

The FEGS youth program was geared toward adolescents 'at risk' afflicted by poverty, drug addiction, gangs, orphans, abuse, high school drop outs and learning disabilities and drug addicted parents. In teaching them, the first step was to show them how to live through creativity as they already knew too well about violence and death.
